Waverly, Iowa— LSI (Lutheran Services in Iowa) recently received a $3,750 grant from the Bremer County Community Foundation for Families Together II, a program designed to strengthen families and reduce child abuse in Bremer County.
The Bremer County Community Foundation grant includes funds from the Readlyn Community Fund and Waverly Community Fund.
Serving Bremer County since 2006, LSI’s Families Together II program provides in-home services to help parents build skills and confidence in parenting and reduce stressors in the home. The program can serve families of children ages 0 to 18 and is designed to fill gaps for families who may not qualify for other services.
“We are thankful for the Bremer County Community Foundation and their investment in strengthening area children and families,” said Nancy Beenblossom, LSI service coordinator. “LSI helps parents build a healthy, nurturing environment for their children through education, support and community resources. Investing in great outcomes for children and families is one of the best ways to invest in our communities.”
LSI’s program is free and voluntary to families and also helps reduce risk factors for child abuse. According to the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study (ACES), for every $50 spent to treat child abuse, only $1 is spent to prevent it from occurring.Burundian culture in Iowa
