This program is available through collaboration with Child Health Specialty Clinics (CHSC), and we are able to provide this service to families with any type of insurance or no insurance at all. We work with a child to develop the coping skills, anger management, and healthy decision-making they need to thrive.

  • This program is for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, exploitation, or grief and loss due to abandonment or parental drug abuse

Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention

LSI’s Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention program supports and educates Iowa youth and teenagers. We lift up students in need of peer support, guidance, or a listening ear, and we introduce them to healthy decision-making to prevent high-risk behaviors or unplanned pregnancies.

Eligibility

  • This program is open to all middle school and high school students
  • Students must be referred into this program by a school official, including a nurse, a health teacher, a counselor, or an administrator

Friday Evening Program

Help your child get back on the right track.

Through this program, your child can attend a one-time Friday night session with LSI staff members to learn skills for better behavior and avoid further involvement in the justice system or school suspension. Youth who successfully complete this program have an opportunity for criminal charges to be suspended, to avoid charges being pressed, or prevent suspension from school or formal probation.

Eligibility

  • Youth in this program must be referred through the Iowa Juvenile Court Services or through their school
  • Youth must have either formal or informal involvement with Juvenile Court

Friday Evening Program

Help your child get back on the right track.

Through this program, your child can attend a one-time Friday night session with LSI staff members to learn skills for better behavior and avoid further involvement in the justice system or school suspension. Youth who successfully complete this program have an opportunity for criminal charges to be suspended, to avoid charges being pressed, or prevent suspension from school or formal probation.

 

Eligibility

  • Youth in this program must be referred through the Iowa Juvenile Court Services or through their school
  • Youth must have either formal or informal involvement with Juvenile Court

Brief Intensive Services

LSI’s Brief Intensive Services (BIS) program exists to stand beside you. BIS is a family-centered program for children who are at risk of out of home placement, or becoming involved with the juvenile justice or child welfare systems. We work with your family to develop goals, connect you with resources in your community, and help your child build the skills they need to thrive.

For up to six months, this program supports families who have recently exited the child welfare system and assists them in sustaining the healthy changes they have made.

 

Eligibility

  • Children using this service must be between the ages of 6 and 17
  • Families must reside in Muscatine or Cedar County
  • Families using this service cannot have Title 19 Medicaid insurance

Family Advocacy Program

Your child is acting out at home or struggling in school. You feel helpless and alone. LSI’s Family Advocacy program is here to walk alongside you.           

We work with you to keep your family strong, safe, and empowered. We collaborate with you to set goals for both you and your child and together, we create a path to achieving those goals.

 

Eligibility

  • Children using this service must have a diagnosed severe emotional or behavioral disorder
  • Families must reside in Muscatine or Cedar County
  • Eligible families cannot have Title 19 Medicaid insurance

STEP-IN Program

In times of crisis, LSI can step in to assess your family’s safety, strengths, and needs. And within 45 days, we will step out of an improved, happy, and healing home. We work with you to develop coping skills, conflict resolution, and the healthy communication your family needs to thrive and avoid future crises.

 

Eligibility

  • Families must be experiencing a crisis in which a child is on the verge of mental health hospitalization, refusing to return home, beyond safe parental control, or if the child is at risk of out-of-home placement
  • Children who are in need of immediate psychiatric hospitalization are not eligible for this service. If you believe your child is in immediate need of hospitalization, please dial 9-1-1

WRAP Program

Our goal is to wrap care around the children and families we serve. Through this program, we work with your family to improve your child’s performance and behavior in school and at home, and connect you with food and clothing assistance, behavioral health services, therapy, and crisis services to get your family on track for a brighter future.

 

Eligibility

  • Families must have children enrolled between pre-kindergarten and the 12th grade in the Dubuque Community School District
  • Students and families must be referred into this program by a school counselor, and must have behaviors that are negatively impacting a student’s wellbeing and academic performance

Emergencies happen! Our BIS team is here to help. An LSI staff member will respond within an hour of your call. We’ll work with you for up to 30 days to develop short-term and long-term goals for your family and connect you to resources like therapy, Medicaid services, churches and other community supports, mentoring services, and more.

 

Eligibility

  • Children using this service must be between the ages of 6 and 17
  • Families must reside in Muscatine County
  • Families using this service do not need Title 19 Medicaid insurance, and we accept private insurance or no insurance
