LSI offers “How to Talk” class

Ames, Iowa—For parents who want to have more positive, productive conversations with their child or teen, LSI’s (Lutheran Services in Iowa) People Place, a family resource center, will offer a six-week workshop on parent and child communication beginning Tuesday, October 2, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. for six weeks.

The workshop, entitled “How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk,” uses discussion, video and activities to help parents explore ways to promote positive communication between their children and themselves, as well as other family members.

Childcare is provided. The cost is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Financial assistance is available.

People Place is located upstairs at United Church of Christ-Congregational at 219 6th Street in Ames.

People Place provides parent education and support in an informal, drop-in setting. Classes, support groups and workshops are also held throughout the year. A library and meeting space is also available for parents to work on projects of their own or network with other parents.
