Teen Parenting
Do you know a teen parent who could use extra support?
We offer support groups for pregnant or parenting teens in many public high school and alternative learning centers in the tri-state Siouxland area, along with other regional programs throughout Iowa.
Classes
LSI classes for teenage parents discuss child development, discipline, nutrition, labor, delivery, breast feeding, budgeting, bonding, potty training, growth and development, child health, birth control, healthy relationships, domestic violence and healthy pregnancies.
Pregnancy prevention
Our pregnancy prevention group discusses positive choices, healthy relationships and what teens need to know about sexually transmitted diseases.
LSI in your home
We have many other parenting programs that would be helpful to teen parents.
An LSI family support worker can visit you regularly in your home, starting even before the baby is born and up to preschool age.
Your LSI family support worker will encourage and support you. You will learn tips for positive parenting, receive developmental screenings for your child to make sure he or she is on track and learn about many community resources.
These programs are free and voluntary for eligible parents.
Services vary by location, so we encourage you to call the nearest LSI office for service availability.
