Lutheran Day on the Hill 3.12.12
Thank you to everyone who participated in Lutheran Services in Iowa’s Lutheran Day on the Hill on March 12, 2012. This day is essential in giving a voice to those who are not heard, for seeking social justice and for empowering people to exercise their right and responsibility to be part of the legislative process.
People working together can make social change happen.
Lutheran Day on the Hill 2012 began at Elim Christian Fellowship in Des Moines at 9:30 a.m. The morning included brief advocacy training and stories of hope told by LSI clients. A representative of ELCA World Hunger was also on hand to speak. After lunch, the group of passionate advocates made its way to the Iowa State Capitol Building to speak with legislators.
How do I advocate at Lutheran Day on the Hill?

“How do I meet with my legislators?”
“I really don’t know how to talk to my legislators, and I’m worried I wouldn’t be able to make my point.”
“I don’t know what I would say, or what the issues are.”
This event was made possible by a grant from ELCA World Hunger, and has been planned in partnership with the three Iowa synods of the ELCA.
