In-Home Programs

Sometimes the best conversations happen in a living room or at a kitchen table, and LSI has many parent programs in Iowa where we can visit you in your home.

Your LSI worker will visit you regularly to answer your questions, provide support and encouragement, share information and help you become a stronger parent.

Visits can begin before your child is even born and last until age 3 or 4.

Information and support

We help you build on your strengths and learn strategies for parenting in areas of positive discipline, parent-child interaction, healthy development and much more.

Our parents often build great relationships with their family support workers who are there to listen, teach, encourage and care.

Make sure your child is on track

It’s exciting to watch your child’s growth and development. We will help you track your child’s milestones, using resources such as the Ages and Stages questionnaire, and can help a delayed child catch up.

Get connected to your community

Do you know what other resources are available in your community? We’ll help you find them.

Examples might be an after school program for an older child, utility or rent assistance, a wellness program, health or dental clinics or a support group.

Many of our home visitation programs also provide support groups and community events such as picnics, so you can meet other parents in your area.

Limited transportation

Many of our families have unreliable transportation and a friend or neighbor is not always available to help. In limited cases, LSI can help transport you to a medical appointment or for other critical needs. We can only provide this service when a parent has no other options.

Who is eligible?

Home visitation programs are free to eligible parents and voluntary.

Parents are eligible based on income level and other factors. For example, this program could be helpful if you are a single or teen parent, have unreliable transportation, a lack of friends or family in your area, suffer from postpartum depression or face many other issues.

Services vary by location, so we encourage you to call the nearest LSI office for service availability.
