Family Guided Care
Residential care isn’t just about your child. It’s about your whole family. That’s why LSI developed one of the few residential programs offering a family-guided approach to care.
With a family or caring adult involved in their treatment, youth can make progress more quickly and return home sooner.
How LSI is here for families
Family Team Meetings – Your LSI facilitator will gather your family together with others important in the child’s life to create a unique plan for support and stability
Home Visits – Your child’s LSI therapist or caseworker will visit you at home, anywhere in the state, to learn more about your family, how things have been going at home and how we can best support you and your child
Weekend Services – When your child returns home for a weekend visit, LSI can provide on-call support and even services in your home to build skills and keep things stable
Family Weekends at LSI – We hold family weekends three times a year. We’ll help with your travel and lodging costs to join us for a weekend of intensive training and support. You’ll get to meet other parents who face similar situations, learn more about your child’s treatment and find ways to cope with stress and manage behaviors.
Training – We offer quarterly family training days and six family fun days a year to support your family through therapy and skill-building
Aftercare – We provide services long after discharge. We will follow up with you through phone calls, crisis support and home visits for up to two years on an as-needed basis.
About our supporters
Engaging families in residential treatment is critical for a child’s success, but funding rarely exists for this kind of enhanced programming.
Thank you to the Roy. J. Carver Charitable Trust and LSI donors for believing in LSI and generously ensuring Iowa children and families get the full support they deserve.
