School-Based Mental Health Services
LSI’s School-Based Mental Health Services is a free resource for K-12 students in Boone, Carroll (middle and high school students only), Dallas and Story Counties who are uninsured, underserved or underinsured. Students can receive professional and confidential therapy at school through LSI. Typical issues could include depression, ADHD, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, trauma or other behaviors resulting from adverse childhood experiences.
This service is offered at school to make life easier for families’ busy schedules and to create access to mental health services for students experiencing barriers like transportation, availability of mental health providers in their communities and other obstacles. In addition, it allows for teamwork and coordination of treatment with teachers and/or school counselors. To begin services, parents can ask their child’s school counselor to contact LSI and make a referral.
