Need a break? LSI focuses on the whole family, including family caregivers. Our respite care offers relief from the daily demands of caring for a person with a disability.
Where respite takes place
Respite can take place in your home, a respite home or a safe group environment. With over 400 trained respite homes in Iowa, LSI has a large network of families who are highly trained to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
Our respite providers take children and adults to movies, parks, zoos and baseball games. They play video games together, do chores on the family farm or go to the library.
LSI respite providers often say that the people they care for truly become part of their family. It’s an opportunity for your child or adult to make new friends, practice social skills and build lasting bonds.
Family and friend respite
Do you have relatives or family friends who would be interested in providing your respite care? They can be hired and trained as your respite provider through our deemed status respite program.
Many families do not wish to take advantage of a friend willing to provide respite and so they do not ask for help as often as they need it – now your friend or relative can be reimbursed for helping.
Elderly respite and group respite
LSI also has options for respite care for elderly individuals, including those needing specialized medical care. We also offer a group respite care option for individuals with memory loss through First Circle Friends.
Become a respite provider
We are always looking to add to our qualified and trained respite provider network. Respite providers are especially needed in rural areas.
This is an employment opportunity with extremely flexible hours and a good fit for someone enjoys helping others. Training is provided.
