Intensive Work Readiness Classes
Many people who lived in refugee camps had few, if any, opportunities for employment. Others come from agricultural or professional backgrounds, but now face language, cultural or certification barriers to finding employment in the U.S.
We hold 14 intensive work readiness classes each year in six language groups for people from countries such as Iraq, Somalia, Eritrea and Burma.
Taught in partnership with local business and community leaders, our classes provide education on:
- Rules and laws in the workplace
- Interviewing and applying for jobs
- Forms and paperwork
- Cultural nuances of the American workplace
Through field trips, guest speakers, mock interviews, classroom instruction and other activities, students learn tools to secure and maintain employment.
