Kassie and Tammy have always had a passion for seeing children succeed.
At work, Kassie supports foster and adoptive parents, and Tammy assists children with special healthcare needs.
The two have raised three children—Morgan, Cayden, and Avery—but they decided to consider foster parenting and adoption.
It didn’t take long for them to know they made the right choice. Through Tammy’s job, the pair met a sweet, red-haired toddler named Asher who would make their family whole.
“He was one of a kind, and his family was unable to care for him due to high medical needs,” Kassie says.
He now loves playing catch and being outdoors, especially when he can be in the family swimming pool. Kassie says his older brother Avery has introduced him to his group of friends and they “just love Asher.”
Kassie says she knows there are some families out there hesitant to consider adoption. But for her family, everything “just fell into place.”
“There are a lot of children who need a forever home. If people are willing to take that step, more children go to bed knowing they won’t wake up in a shelter,” she says. “All I can say is I personally couldn’t love Asher any more if I’d given birth to him.”
