Our answer to a child’s unruly behavior (“they need a good time out, grounded, or privileges removed!”) is an issue of compliance, power, and control. Ironically, we are modeling the very power and control game that we are trying to get them to stop doing. This may work for us, somewhat, until they get bigger or smarter than we are. Today, we’re backing up, re-looking at the scripts in this theatrical production, and hopefully writing a new script for a more positive outcome. We start with the fact that we are all on this stage together. The issue is relationship and the perceptions we each hold.

This 3-hour workshop includes breaks and interactive activities.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will know:

  1. How perception (how we perceive self and other) greatly determines behavior
  2. What perceptions are
  3. What some of your perceptions are and how they determine your behavior
  4. Healthier perceptions
  5. Ways to change to healthier perceptions and thus healthier behavior and relationships
  6. Exceptions

This training has been approved for 3 hours of foster parent training credit.
