Melissa will share her own story of embarking on the adoption process and how she has navigated through along the way. Melissa will provide psychoeducation on the different types of grief, along with the tasks of grief. She will then provide foster parents with suicidality risk and protective factors, along with questions to assess suicidal behavior and directions on how to help a child who has severe suicidal ideations.

This session will provide information about suicide — myths, warning signs, risk, and protective factors. Participants will learn the Questions/Persuade/Refer (QPR) steps to help prevent suicide.

This training has been approved for 2 hours of foster parent training credit.

Instructor: Melissa Skrepak
