Trauma-informed care is everywhere now, and this can be confusing; learning the slide sets is one thing, and telling a parent what to do is much easier for the teller than the parent. This day of collaboration will dive into some of the most common issues that foster and adoptive parents face. In small groups, we will address a scenario and access current state-of-the-art literature, websites, and programs to apply the relevant aspects to the behavior being discussed. Parent groups will practice accessing useful information together and discuss sequenced behavioral response to a child and system so that chaos and violence are reduced and healing is given a chance to emerge for all.
At this time, we are asking all in-person LSI training attendees to practice social distancing and wear a mask during the session. Prior to the in-person training, please review and sign this COVID-19 safety guidelines acknowledgement form and bring it with you to the training.
Instructor: Frank Grijalva
Frank Grijalva is extensively trained in the field of psychological trauma through leading edge scientists and practitioners. He has trained and been trained by clinicians, and has measured and implemented successful child stabilization programs around the world. He has successfully adapted trauma programming to residential treatment facilities, group homes, alternative school settings, and foster parent programs throughout Iowa and Nebraska.
This training has been approved for 6 hours of foster parent training credit.
