This training is offered for professionals who work in the child welfare system or collaborate on child welfare investigations, including medical providers, nurses, child welfare professionals, law enforcement, attorneys, mental health professionals, and educators and school personnel.

This course describes the medical indicators of child physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect and dispels commonly believed myths and inferences. This training is delivered by members of the Project Harmony Medical Team. Please note that photos used in this presentation may be graphic but are used to increase awareness.

Participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of the role of medical professionals in child welfare
  • Be able to describe the physical indicators of various forms of abuse and neglect
  • Identify ways to effectively work with medical providers treating children in the child welfare system
  • Understand the effects of violence on children

This has been approved for 3 hours of foster parent training credit.

Please print and fill out this certificate and bring it to the training. Have your caseworker and training facilitator sign the form to ensure you receive the CEUs available. Always notify your caseworker or recruiter of your intention to attend any of the training or support group events on this calendar. Acceptable proof would also include the signature of the trainer on either training materials or notes that includes the title and date of the training.
