Youth Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that introduces participants to the unique risk factors and symptoms of mental health problems in adolescents, build understanding of the importance of early intervention, and most importantly – teach individuals how to help a youth in crisis or experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. In this training, you’ll learn to:

  • Assess for risk of suicide or harm
  • Listen nonjudgmentally
  • Give reassurance and information
  • Encourage appropriate professional help
  • Encourage self-help and other support strategies

This training has been approved for 6 hours of foster parent training credit.

RSVP/Registration
Please print and fill out this certificate and bring it to the training. Have your caseworker and training facilitator sign the form to ensure you receive the CEUs available. Always notify your caseworker or recruiter of your intention to attend any of the training or support group events on this calendar. Acceptable proof would also include the signature of the trainer on either training materials or notes that includes the title and date of the training. Register online here.
