The purpose of this training is to further educate adults about children’s sexual development. This training will provide participants with accurate information about children’s sexual development, as well as help develop the skills and comfort to promote healthy behaviors and respond to children’s questions. This curriculum was created by Prevent Child Abuse Vermont as part of child sexual abuse prevention efforts. Children who are exposed to non-shaming, health-based messages develop protective factors that decrease the likelihood of abuse.

This curriculum is health-focused with emphasis on:

  • Adult responsibility for protecting children
  • Trauma-informed practices
  • Victim and perpetration prevention and bystander education

This training has been approved for 3 hours of foster parent training credit.

Facilitator: Mikayla Morris, LSI’s Behavioral Health Intervention Services
