One way to safeguard a child’s physical and mental health is by teaching them how to recognize and deal with feelings in appropriate and effective ways. This is in addition to helping the child “fit in” to a society that expects people to be aware of their feelings and in proper control of their emotions, instead of allowing emotions to control them.

Curriculum includes:

  • Definitions
  • The link between mind and body
  • Emotional disturbance
  • Anniversary behavior
  • Alexithymia (difficulty in experiencing, expressing, and describing emotional response)
  • Risk factors and feelings
  • Boys versus girls

  • The silent treatment
  • Lifelong issues
  • Choosing treatment
  • Psychotherapy treatment options
  • After treatment begins

  • Tools of support and treatment information
