This training is designed specifically for those that work with juveniles who are involved in the Juvenile Justice System. Participants learn what trauma is and its impact on these youth, as well as develop awareness of the unique experiences that juveniles encounter by virtue of being involved in the system and the effect(s) these experiences have on their traumatic stress reactions. Participants will:

  • Learn how to view youth behaviors through a trauma lens
  • Understand the role of resilience in buffering the effects of traumatic events
  • Create a draft trauma-informed safety plan and understand how to use it with youth

Scenarios are enacted in Project Harmony’s training theater to facilitate experiential learning.
