To teach a child how to recognize and deal with feelings in appropriate and effective ways is a way of safeguarding that child’s physical and mental health. This is in addition to helping the child “fit in” in a society that expects people to be aware of their feelings and in proper control of their emotions, instead of allowing emotions to control them.

Course Objectives:
To give caregivers, social workers, and teachers:

  • An understanding of emotions/feelings (or lack thereof) and how they can affect behaviors and physical health
  • Tools to encourage children to talk about their feelings/emotions/behaviors
  • Tools of support and treatment information
