67.3% of Iowa adults report experiencing at least one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) such as neglect, abuse, and other household stressors.

Trauma-informed care recognizes how traumatic experiences affect individuals and gives tools to foster respect and safety for both patients and first responders.

At the end of this interactive training, participants will be able to:

1. Understand mental illness and trauma concepts, including the impact of trauma on our thinking and behavior.

2. Identify the key components of trauma-informed care and the practical application in the first responder setting.

3. Explore components of self-care specific to the first responder role.

Instructor: Austin Pierce, State Opioid Response Grant Coordinator, Prevention Specialist

This training has been approved for 1 hour of resource parent training credit.
