LSI’s wide range of localized Community Programs support youth and families throughout the state. While our programs may provide different services, they all share the same goal: wrapping care around a community’s need at a local level.

Community Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP)
This program supports and educates Iowa youth and teenagers. We lift up students to build skills and provide the sexual health and pregnancy prevention education needed for healthy and successful relationships with partners, family, and friends. This program is provided to students in a group session, held at their community school.
Eligibility
- This program is open to all K – 12 students, and we utilize age-appropriate curriculum for groups.

Friday Evening Program
Help your child get back on the right track.
Through this program, your child can attend a one-time Friday night session with LSI staff members to learn skills for better behavior and avoid further involvement in the justice system or school suspension. Youth who successfully complete this program have an opportunity for criminal charges to be suspended, to avoid charges being pressed, or prevent suspension from school or formal probation.
Eligibility
- Youth in this program must be referred through the Iowa Juvenile Court Services or through their school
- Youth must have either formal or informal involvement with Juvenile Court

This program utilizes the Teen Outreach Program evidence-based curriculum, which focuses on key topics related to adolescent health and development including building social, emotional, and life skills, developing a positive sense of self, and connecting with peers in their community. This program is offered in a group session setting.
Eligibility
- Participants must be youth at the Forest Ridge Youth Facility in Emmet County or youth involved in the Juvenile Court System in Cherokee County.

STEP-IN Program
In times of crisis, LSI can step in to assess your family’s safety, strengths, and needs. And within 45 days, we will step out of an improved, happy, and healing home. We work with you to develop coping skills, conflict resolution, and the healthy communication your family needs to thrive and avoid future crises.
Eligibility
- Families must be experiencing a crisis in which a child is on the verge of mental health hospitalization, refusing to return home, beyond safe parental control, or if the child is at risk of out-of-home placement
- Children who are in need of immediate psychiatric hospitalization are not eligible for this service. If you believe your child is in immediate need of hospitalization, please dial 9-1-1
