Immigrant and Refugee Community Services
Transitioning to life in the U.S. is difficult for senior immigrants and refugees. In the Des Moines refugee and immigrant community, some senior individuals lack literacy in their own language, and many often face isolation in their homes. We partner with individuals age 60 and above to foster community connections, improve their quality of life, and work towards their goal of U.S. citizenship.
Eligibility
- Participants must be age 60 or above, must not yet be U.S. citizens, and must have arrived through the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program.
Benefits
- Participants may continue attending these classes and receive support until they become U.S. citizens.
