LSI is thrilled to welcome Mariah Himes as our new Statewide Volunteer Coordinator!
What inspired you to work for LSI?
I love getting to be a part of an organization that’s consistently growing to meet the needs of the community. I also really appreciate LSI’s emphasis on social justice, encapsulated in the core values of unite, grow, empower, and respect.
What’s your favorite part about working for LSI?
LSI is making a difference in the community by providing services to historically marginalized and stigmatized folks. I’m so glad to be a part of an organization that provides services for those with mental health issues, people with disabilities, refugees, and many more of our neighbors struggling with a vast array of unmet needs.
What do you want others to know about LSI and LSI’s volunteer opportunities?
LSI offers a variety of volunteer opportunities with the goals of strengthening our services and staff and engaging community members in meaningful work they enjoy. Volunteering is a great way to learn more about the services LSI provides in real-time and get to know our amazing staff!
Mariah’s myLSI myWHY: To support and empower staff to utilize volunteers to meet their needs, as well as the needs of clients such that staff are less burdened by workloads, while community members are more educated about and impassioned for the service we provide our neighbors.
