Sandy brings insights as the mother of three black (mixed-race) children, adopted across racial lines during the 1970s. She discussed being in interracial families with her adult children and many other people over the years, and interviewed 12 people in interracial families for her doctoral dissertation on racial identity. She’ll bring books, dolls, and other items as examples of what might be helpful in affirming racial identity and increasing understanding across racial lines. Participants will be invited to share their stories and ask questions.
Instructor: Sandy Nesbit Tracy
Sandy Nesbit Tracy is part of a racially diverse family. She grew up identifying as mixed due to her mother’s stories and appearance. Her education includes a BA in philosophy and religion from Tarkio College (Missouri), an MA in communication (journalism) from Stanford University, a PhD in education and human resource studies from Colorado State University, and many continuing education classes.
