This will be a hands-on class. The trainer, Carissa, would like everyone who has a child they plan to bring to send her a picture of the child’s hair texture and products being used on the child’s hair including: combs, brushes, shampoos, and hair creams. If needed, Carissa will send out a modified list of specific items for each child for the class. You may text Carissa the pictures at 712.326.5278 or email her at carissa.lokko@gmail.com. The sooner you send Carissa the information, the better!
Training Agenda
Skin Care
– Daily skin routine for children older than 1
– Daily skin routine for children younger than 1
– Eczema
– Moisturizing is important! Provide a list of good lotions, etc.
Hair Care
– How to shampoo and types of shampoos to use
– Conditioning and the best way to condition
– Combing hair
– Blow drying hair
– Provide a list of good hair care products
– Hair care for infants
Hands-On Hair Care
– Learn to properly moisturize hair
– Learn how to properly comb hair
– Learn how to properly style hair
The hands-on portion could take up as much as 90 minutes. Include videos and encourage parents to use video tutorials on YouTube for tips and tricks. The basis for the course is the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Training Program Handbook.
Childcare will be provided for children who are participants in the class. This has been approved for 3 hours of foster parent training credit.

Please print and fill out this certificate and bring it to the training. Have your caseworker and training facilitator sign the form to ensure you receive the CEUs available. Always notify your caseworker or recruiter of your intention to attend any of the training or support group events on this calendar. Acceptable proof would also include the signature of the trainer on either training materials or notes that includes the title and date of the training.
